Summer means plenty of time outside, between backyard barbecues and soaking up the sun by the water. It also means peak strawberry season. And with strawberry season comes plenty of juicy strawberries to use for strawberry desserts! This summer, our go-to strawberry dessert are these creamy, sweet deviled strawberries.
If you’re looking for a snack the kids will love on a summer afternoon, or something to display on a platter for a party, this deviled strawberries dessert will do the trick. They can even be customized in a variety of delicious ways to fit any occasion.
Here’s how to make them at home! Just don’t make any of these berry mistakes before you start.
How to Make Deviled Strawberries
This recipe for filled strawberries uses fresh strawberries paired with cream cheese and a bit of sugar to make the perfect, easy summer treat. Dress them up for a party with grated chocolate, graham cracker crumbs or sprinkles on top.
Ingredients
- 3 dozen large fresh strawberries
- 11 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- Grated chocolate, optional
Directions
Step 1: Prepare the strawberries
Wash the strawberries and remove the stems. Cut a deep ‘X’ in the tip of each berry. Gently spread the berries open.
Step 2: Make the filling
In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar and almond extract with a hand mixer until light and fluffy.
Step 3: Fill the berries
Pipe or spoon about 2 teaspoons of filling into each berry. If desired, sprinkle with grated chocolate or other toppings. Chill until serving.
How to Make Chocolate Deviled Strawberries
Love chocolate and strawberries together? It’s the perfect combo! You can easily whip up a chocolate cream cheese filling to make another tasty version of deviled strawberries, like TikTok creator @cookiterica did with these bite-sized treats.
Ingredients
- 1 dozen large fresh strawberries
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 cup melted chocolate
Directions
Step 1: Prep the strawberries
Wash the strawberries, remove the stems and slice each in half down the middle. Remove a small amount of the inside of each berry.
Step 2: Make the filling
In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, heavy cream and confectioners’ sugar. Use a hand mixer to mix until smooth. Mix in the melted chocolate.
Step 3: Fill the berries
Pipe the chocolate filling into each strawberry. Top with chocolate sprinkles. Chill until serving.
