A chicken Caesar is one of the most iconic salads. Perhaps the only way to make it better is to wrap it up for a quick handheld meal. Our easy chicken Caesar wrap can be enjoyed just about anywhere and at any time, whether for a desk lunch at the office or for a picnic dinner at the beach.

Take the building blocks of a classic Caesar salad—the crispy romaine, the tangy dressing and the croutons—add cooked chicken and wrap it up in a flour tortilla. It’s as simple as that. These wraps are sure to become a go-to favorite in your house, just as they are in mine. Best of all, with endless riffs on this chicken Caesar salad wrap recipe, you’ll never get bored!

Chicken Caesar Wrap Ingredients

  • Chicken: You can use any kind of cooked chicken, whether canned, grilled or poached. Rotisserie chicken is a wonderful option too. Just break down the chicken when you bring it home for quick and easy access to the protein. You’ll get big flavors with minimal prep!
  • Lettuce: Crispy romaine, the classic choice for any Caesar salad, is also the best type of lettuce for these Caesar wraps. Before making your wrap, keep your lettuce in the crisper drawer to maintain its texture. Tear the leaves instead of chopping them to create different-sized pieces to fill your tortilla.
  • Dressing: This recipe calls for bottled Caesar dressing, but you can also make your own Caesar salad dressing.
  • Tortillas: We love using whole wheat tortillas for our chicken Caesar wraps, but you can substitute regular flour tortillas or gluten-free tortillas instead. If you have extras, these recipes with flour tortillas offer more dinner inspiration.
  • Croutons: You can buy croutons at the store, but making your own salad croutons is a great way to use up extra bread that has gone stale and to add your favorite seasonings. Keep the croutons whole in your wrap or crush them into smaller pieces if you prefer finer-textured croutons.
  • Seasonings: The extra garlic powder and black pepper amp up the flavor a bit.
  • Parmesan cheese: No Caesar salad would be complete without it! Real Parm is better than canned stuff for this salad. Grated melts into the dressing better, but if you prefer shredded or shaved, that’s fine too.

Fold in each side of the tortilla, then roll it up until the chicken mixture is completely wrapped.

Editor’s Tip: If the tortillas aren’t super pliable, heat them in a pan on the stove or in the microwave for a minute to make folding easier.

Recipe Variations

  • Use different greens: As perfect as nice, crispy romaine is in a wrap, don’t be afraid to go off-script and try some other greens! Hearty leafy greens like black kale, green lettuce or even iceberg lettuce work. Softer greens like baby spinach may wilt under the dressing but will still taste delicious.
  • Try different dressings: Though Caesar dressing is in the name of the wrap, we love trying our other favorite dressings here as well. Green goddess dressing is a favorite, and homemade honey mustard dressing adds a fun tang too.
  • Switch up the proteins: Instead of chicken, try canned tuna, chickpeas or crispy baked tofu in these Caesar wraps.
  • Add other vegetables: Adding vegetables like avocado or sliced tomatoes is an amazing way to enhance the flavors and textures of your chicken Caesar wrap.
  • Wrap up other salads: The beauty of a wrap is that anything can go into it. Turn this grilled chicken Caesar salad or kale Caesar salad into a wrap, or wrap this blackened pork Caesar salad in a tortilla.
  • Fold the tortilla in a new way: Try this fun tortilla wrap hack from TikTok to make a toasted chicken Caesar salad wrap.

How to Store a Chicken Caesar Wrap

Leftover chicken Caesar wraps can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days. You can store the wraps whole or cut them in half. Before chilling, tightly wrap them with storage wrap or foil to keep the wraps as crispy as possible.

Can you make a chicken Caesar wrap ahead of time?

These wraps come together fairly quickly, and to keep them as crisp as possible, we recommend making them at most a few hours before you enjoy them. However, you can easily prep all the individual ingredients for your wraps ahead of time to cut down on cooking time. If making your own dressing, store it in a small airtight container for up to two days in the refrigerator. Keep the chicken, croutons and lettuce separate, and then mix them into the dressing when you’re ready to eat your wraps.

How do you keep the lettuce crispy in chicken Caesar wraps?

The best way to keep lettuce crispy in chicken Caesar wraps is to start with fresh, crisp romaine leaves. The crispier the lettuce is at the start, the longer it will stay that way in your wrap. If you can, avoid adding the dressing to the wrap components until just before serving, as lettuce begins to wilt when it is introduced to moisture.

What else can you serve with chicken Caesar wraps?

Chicken Caesar wraps go perfectly with hearty, savory sides like Parmesan potato wedges or zucchini fries. Or serve them with a cup of hearty vegetable soup or easy minestrone.
