  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tube (12 ounces) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  • 1/2 cup cubed process cheese (Velveeta)

  1. In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Remove from the heat; set aside.
  2. Press each biscuit onto the bottom and up the sides of a greased muffin cup. Spoon beef mixture into cups; top with cheese cubes. Bake at 400° for 14-16 minutes or until golden brown.
    Freeze option: Freeze cooled pastries in a freezer container, separating layers with waxed paper. To use, thaw pastries in the refrigerator for 8 hours. Reheat on a baking sheet in a preheated 375° oven until heated through.
    Yield: 5 servings.

"My kids loved them & so did I. I typically make a recipe exactly as written the 1st time and will only review it as written. I hate it when people make changes to a recipe and then give it a poor rating - it's ridiculous. However, I am making an exception to my rule this time because I think this recipe deserves another FIVE star rating and my changes were small (just personal preferences) & as written I think it would be great too. Based on other reviews, I reduced the brown sugar to 1 tablespoon & I added a SMALL amount of chopped onion and garlic to my hamburger meat while cooking. When I assembled them, I was sure I was screwing them up. They didn't look pretty at all. But when completed, they tasted great. Oh, I also didn't use velvet because I don't like it - I used a shredded Colby/Cheddar combination. Next time I think I will just add the shredded cheese to the meat mixture so it doesn't make such a mess on the pan. This will definitely go into the family rotation for those busy, active week nights of sports, music lessons and homework. FIVE STAR!!"
