Old-Fashioned Green Beans

- 6 bacon strips, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 pounds fresh green beans
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp, about 5 minutes. Add the beans, brown sugar and water. Stir gently; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until beans are crisp-tender. Remove to a serving bowl with a slotted spoon.
Nutrition Facts3/4 cup: 145 calories, 10g fat (4g saturated fat), 11mg cholesterol, 132mg sodium, 12g carbohydrate (8g sugars, 3g fiber), 3g protein.

Effortless to make, and really tasty! I added a handful of pecans.

these were fantastic. I did add dried cranberries and salt. Next time I might try adding some pecans. Can't believe how good these were though. Husband loved them too. I'll definitely make these a lot

These were so good. I used 1 pound of green beans, but other than that followed the directions.

Family loved these green beans!!! They were easy and delicious. I also double the brown sugar and water.

Love the sweet bacon flavor of these beans, and quick to make. Have also added fresh mushrooms to this dish and it was great.

absolutely -- and a great way to serve it -- crockpot after the initial cooking on low!! I doubled the brown sugar and water and left it with the beans.
