100% would make again

“This must-try casserole tastes so good when it’s hot and bubbly from the oven,” writes Margaret Wilson from Hemet, California. “The cheddar french-fried onions lend a cheesy, crunchy touch.”

We loved the penne and sauce, but the smoked sausage gave the dish a heavy smoky flavor, which neither my husband or I care for. I will make it again with some hot links and see how that works.

this is really good and simple! I added 1 cup of milk instead of 1 1/2 cup, it was nice and creamy that way. Different veggies do make it good, but peas ae still great! And add more cheese!

My family thought this was okay. Ours was a little runny and it needed more cheese. We'll be tweaking the recipe, including adding some mixed veggies. It's a good start though.

I made this recently and thought it was great...I added black pepper and a little creole spice to "kick it up" a notch, as Emeril would say! I made two casseroles; one with artichoke added; the other plain; both were great!

This was really good. My daughter kept saying she wouldn't like it due to the french-fried onions and she ended up eating the majority of it.

This was just okay. None of my kids complained, so that is always a plus. But they didn't rave about it either. I thought it was decent, nothing "wow" about the taste. My husband thought it was okay as well. Not sure that I will be making this often. May need to play around with the recipe some until I really like it. Thanks for the recipe, though.

Cheddar french fried onions come in a can that you buy in the grocery store that is located next to the french fried onions you buy to make green bean casserole. The sausage is cut into 1/4 inch thick slices that the recipe calls for.

How thick do you cut the sausage before browning?
