Steak and Fries Salad
Total TimePrep/Total Time: 30 min.
I believe this steak salad originated in western PA at The Hilltop Inn, in Rochester, PA. A couple of things you can do that really are important to get that original flavor is to slighly heat Marzetti's Sweet and Sour Dressing if you can find it. I can't find it in the area I live now and have found that Marie's Cole Slaw Dressing is a very close match. The french fries and the warmed dressing are the hallmarks of the salad. Also, don't forget the chopped hard boiled eggs and the mozzarella should be cubed, not shredded. Thank you Nancy for bringing back some great memories spent at The Hilltop Inn, where everyone at the table would order the steak salad!
Great salad. I come from the Pittsburgh area where steak and fries salad are commonplace. I did cheat on this one and use leftover steak. Dressing was memorable.
My daughter is a finiky eater and not to fond of salads but loves french fries she inhaled the salad and is always requesting for me to make it again.
