Barbecue Beef Sandwiches

- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hamburger buns
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Cook the beef, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add all remaining ingredients except buns. Simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes. Serve on buns.

Great change up recipe! I normally use chuck roast for barbecue beef, but I loved switching up the recipe by using ground beef. For the vinegar, I used apple cider vinegar. For the sugar, I used brown sugar.

Excellent! Made 2 little changes, brown sugar instead of regular and added a splash of worcestershire sauce for a bit of zing. Simple to make and ingredients on hand. My new favorite recipe for sloppy joes!

This is a good sandwich for a quick supper or lunch.My family really enjoys them very much.They are go great with potato salad and a big glass of iced tea!Nancy FoustVFE PA

I omitted the green peppers and used chopped celery instead. I also wanted to add a little zip so I sprinkled a dash of red pepper flakes into the mix before simmering. My husband had two helpings!!
