Party Chicken Wings

Country Woman Christmas

These moist wings— marinated overnight in a soy sauce, mustard and brown sugar mixture— are excellent party appetizers. At our house, they're a must for holiday gatherings.

SERVINGS: 8

CATEGORY: Appetizer

METHOD: Baked

TIME: Prep: 10 min. + marinating Bake: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 12 whole chicken wings (about 2 pounds)
  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:

Cut chicken wings into three sections; discard wing tips. In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Set aside 1/4 cup for basting; cover and refrigerate. Place the wings in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow glass bowl. Pour the remaining marinade over wings; turn to coat. Seal or cover and refrigerate overnight. Drain and discard marinade. Place the wings in a shallow baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 1 hour, brushing several times with reserved soy sauce mixture during the last 30 minutes of baking. Refrigerate any leftovers. Yield: 2 dozen.

We had these wings last night and they are so good!  Wasn't the recipe I thought it was going to be but it is certainly a keeper.

Hubby and I enjoyed these wings, however, I would decrease time baked in oven, as I noticed these seem to be done after 45 minutes, so I didn't bake them exactly 60 minutes. Some recipes say to bake wings at 350 for 50-60 minutes, while others say, bake them at 375 degrees for 35-45 minutes.

I noticed the recipe calls for 12 wings, I used 7 wings, and 7 drumettes. Also, for those who think these may a bit too salty, try a low sodium soy sauce. In all, we certainly enjoyed the wings, they reminded us of Teriyaki flavored wings. Yum-O!!
