Skillet Beef and Macaroni

- 1-1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 package (7 ounces) macaroni
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef and onion until the meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally, 20-25 minutes. Add more water if needed.

I got this recipe off the back of a matchbook cover when I was a teenager. I am now a grandmother and I still make it.

I'd reviewed this recipe on 8/12/2019, but I have not seen it come up! My change with ingredients was using 2 cans of Italian-style tomato sauce since I'd had it on hand. I did use my 6-qt. stockpot and as the contributor had suggested, I did add more water as needed! This is a delicious recipe!

Love this delicious dish. Only change I made was to use one pound ground beef and cook the macaroni separately then add it to the skillet. This is not only quick and easy but also delicious. If you have a big family, you may want to double the recipe. We got three helpings out of it but we were hungry. Definitely a 5-star recipe.

Saw this recipe in the April/May Taste of Hame magazine, and just had to try it. Made it tonight and was pleasantly surprised. Being so simple and fast, I was leary it may be a little bland, but not the case. Only change I made was adding some corn, and a cup of tomato juice for added moisture. Very flavorful and fast.

I gave this 5 stars just for the fact that all 7 people in my house ate it without 1 complaint! This is super quick and easy. I made a few tweaks. I used lean ground turkey instead of ground beef, used more salt and pepper than what was listed, threw in some garlic powder, and added 1/2 cup more water than the recipe called for.

My finicky family loved this! I used 1 pound of very lean ground beef and about 2 oz more pasta than the recipe stated. I also used whole grain elbow pasta, which is a little firmer and richer in taste. I am planning to use ground turkey next time to save a little money. Great family recipe.
