With this copycat Disney Dole Whip recipe, you can re-create Disneyland magic in your kitchen.

Updated: Jul. 09, 2024

If it was up to us, we’d go to Disneyland every summer. Unfortunately, that isn’t always possible—but we can make some of our favorite Disney Parks copycat recipes at home.

A few years ago, Disney gave its fans a little treat via the Disneyland app: a copycat Disney Dole Whip recipe you can blend up yourself—and it’s super simple! While the recipe is technically for a “frozen pineapple treat,” it’s pretty obvious it’s meant to be similar to the signature Disney Dole Whip you get at the park. Bet you can’t wait to “whip” it up!

What is copycat Disney Dole Whip?

Dole Whip ingredients include frozen pineapple, vanilla ice cream and pineapple juice, which combine to make an amazing frozen treat. It was created by Dole Food Company and is popularly sold in Disney theme parks. It has everything you need for the summer: sweet ice creamy goodness, tangy pineapple juice and chunks of ice-cold pineapple, all mixed up into one delicious treat. It’s the perfect way to take a break and rehydrate while you’re running from one ride to the next!

Plus, a dose of tropical deliciousness is sometimes just what you need to perk up—especially when you’re feeling down or it’s a dreary, rainy day outside. We’re definitely looking forward to making a little Disneyland’s Dole Whip of our own at home, swirl and all.

Copycat Disney Dole Whip Ingredients

  • Pineapple chunks: You’ll need 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks for this Dole Whip recipe.
  • Vanilla ice cream: This is us permitting you to buy one of the best vanilla ice cream brands from the store. The quality will make a huge difference in taste. Or go the ultra-primo route and use homemade vanilla ice cream!
  • Unsweetened pineapple juice: The frozen pineapple chunks and vanilla ice cream make a thick puree. A splash of unsweetened pineapple juice gets the treat to a pipeable, soft-serve consistency.

Directions

Step 1: Blend the ingredients

Place all the ingredients in a blender. Cover the blender with its lid, and process the ingredients until thick. Stop the blender every now and again to scrape down the sides as needed.

Step 2: Pipe and swirl

Pipe the Dole Whip into two bowls or glasses, topping each with a swirl.

Recipe Variations

  • Make it dairy-free: The real Dole Whip from Disneyland is dairy-free (which is why the original version isn’t considered ice cream), but the official Disney recipe does contain dairy. To make it dairy-free, replace the regular ice cream with vegan ice cream so it’s closer to the Dole Whip from Disneyland.
  • Use a different fruit: Not into pineapple? Try watermelon instead! Freeze cubes of watermelon, and juice the extra in a blender to replicate Disneyland’s Dole Whip watermelon parfait. Cantaloupe, honeydew melons, strawberries, mangoes, lemons or oranges would also taste fantastic!
  • Add a bit of sweetness: If you like your DIY Dole Whip a little sweeter, blend 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, honey or maple syrup into the mix.

How to Store Copycat Disney Dole Whip

Store leftover Disney Dole Whip in an airtight container with a piece of storage wrap pressed directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals from forming. Keep the container in the back of the freezer where the temperature doesn’t fluctuate as much as it does by the door. If stored properly, Disney Dole Whip should last in the freezer for about a month.

Can you make copycat Disney Dole Whip ahead of time?

Yes, you can make Dole Whip ahead of time. Blend it up and store it per the directions above. Once you’re ready to enjoy it again, let the Dole Whip thaw at room temperature for a few minutes until it reaches a pipeable consistency. Make sure to stir it every few minutes so it thaws evenly. Once it’s ready, add it to a piping bag and pipe a big swirl of your copycat Disneyland’s Dole Whip.
