Ingredients

  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • Additional milk

One serving equals 318 calories, 14 g fat (7 g saturated fat), 78 mg cholesterol, 492 mg sodium, 43 g carbohydrate, 3 g fiber, 7 g protein.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk and butter. Stir into oat mixture until blended.
  2. Spoon into a greased 9-in. square baking pan. Bake 40-45 minutes or until set. Serve warm with milk. Yield: 9 servings.

"I made the recipe as written, and it was very good. My only problem was that it was a little bit dry, so I can understand why others added an extra half cup of milk. I'll modify my recipe accord. It's a keeper, and great for warming up throughout the work week."

"this was excellent, though I did make a few changes. I did add the extra 1/2 cup milk like a lot of people recommended. I also added about 1/2 cup chopped canned peaches, 1/3 cup frozen blueberries and 1/3 cup chopped pecans. this was really good. My husband loved it too and we ate the whole thing in 2 days. I'll probably make it again next week."

"Yum! I made the recipe exactly as originally written to have a base point to move from. It tastes really good as is. I only cooked mine for about 30 minutes though because i wanted it to be soft, not crunchy. Next time I probably will add more milk. I also like the idea of adding fruit and vanilla."

"I really enjoyed this recipe. I made the recipe as stated except I added 1/2 cup more milk. It is very yummy. It is the ultimate comfort food breakfast. The only thing I will change for next time is adding either raisons or some kind of fruit. I felt like really that was the only thing missing. Very good recipe! I will make it again and again."

"I also think the recipe would be great as it was, but I modified the original pretty heavily just to suit my own tastes. Substitutions: 1 cup yogurt for 1 cup milk; 1/2 cup honey for 1 cup sugar; 1/2 cup coconut oil for 1/2 cup butter. Popped it in the oven for ~42 minutes and it turned out wonderfully. A little crumbly, but that's often the case with baked oatmeal. A great base with lots of room for modifications!"
