Baked Oatmeal Squares

These quick and easy Amish baked oatmeal bars are one of my most cherished because it's hearty and flavorful. My wonderful husband loves to eat, especially what I make! —Elaine Heckman, Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1-1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cups raisins
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


  • Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking dish. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cut into squares.

    I added a little less than one fourth cup of flour to hold the squares together and one fourth cup of sugar. This recipe is so delicious!!!!!

    This is a go-to breakfast recipe in our house. We don’t like oatmeal, but this has a texture more like cake. My company always likes it as well. I use chocolate chips instead of raisins, and recently I started cutting the sugar back a little with good results.

    I tried it using a scant 1/2 c of flour....thumbs up!they stick together and are still tasty.If you add a cup of flour, they are very scone like.1/3 cup of flour and they still fall apart.I've made them several times this week and the kids have been enjoying them.

    there's no flour in this recipe?is that an omission, but it would explain why they won't stick together, I am going to make them (again)and add some flour and see if that helps.

    They were very good, tasted like an oatmeal cookie, but wouldn't stick together, became granola.
