Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in the eggs, orange zest and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the chips and walnuts. Cover and chill for 2 hours or until easy to handle.
  2. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/2-in. thickness. Cut with a lightly floured 3-in. round cookie cutter. Place 1 in. apart on greased baking sheets.
  3. Bake at 375° for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
