If you love deep dish pizza, consider tossing this bubble pizza together. It only takes a few minutes and combines the ease of a casserole with the soft crust, sauce and melty cheese of your favorite pizza. (But if you prefer traditional pizza, here’s how to make deep dish pizza).

You can use whatever toppings you like, similar to topping a regular pizza. The best part is you don’t have to fuss with rolling out dough. Lay pieces of refrigerated biscuit dough in the bottom of a baking dish, layer on tomato sauce, meat and cheese and bake until the dough is cooked and the cheese is melted. Try it once and you might have a new Friday night tradition.

Bubble Pizza Ingredients

  • Ground beef: Brown ground beef if you love a hamburger pizza vibe, but you can also use sausage or pepperoni.
  • Pizza sauce: Top with your favorite pizza sauce, or make homemade pizza sauce.
  • Refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough: The kind that comes in a tube is easy to separate and bakes up soft.
  • Shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese: Mild and easy melting mozzarella and cheddar tops this bubble pizza recipe.

Bubble Pizza Variations

  • Make a loaded veggie pizza: Skip the beef and saute any vegetables that need to be softened, like onions or peppers. For quick-cooking vegetables like mushrooms or zucchini add it to the pizza before cooking.
  • Try a cream sauce: Use a creamy Alfredo-style sauce instead of typical marinara.
  • Everything’s better with garlic butter: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and stir in a minced garlic clove. Brush over biscuit dough before adding the beef.
  • Use innovative cheeses: Shredded mozzarella and cheddar are great cheeses but you can branch out by stirring in torn pieces of fresh mozzarella or fontina, or adding some flavorful Parmesan to the melty mix.

How to Store Bubble Pizza

Leftover bubble pizza can be stored in its container in the refrigerator for four to five days. Make sure the pizza is covered.

How do you reheat bubble pizza?

You can gently warm bubble pizza in the microwave or cover and bake in a 350° oven for 10 to 15 minutes. If you prefer a slightly crisp bottom (and a melty top), try warming in a covered skillet over low heat.

What if you love a really saucy pizza?

Increase the sauce by 1/4 and toss the biscuit pieces with sauce before laying in the baking sheet.

How can you quickly cut the biscuit dough?

If you don’t have a pair of scissors designated for kitchen use, what are you waiting for? Besides snipping chives and cutting regular pizza with ease, try using shears to quickly cut the biscuit dough.

Do you have to use refrigerated biscuit dough?

While refrigerated biscuit dough makes this a cinch to pull together, you can use your favorite homemade biscuit dough or pizza dough to make the pull-apart crust.

What are some good sides for bubble pizza?

Continue the Italian theme and get your veggies in with this abundant antipasta salad that has lettuce, olives and tomatoes. Or, toss together a cherry tomato salad with vinaigrette and fresh herbs.
