In a large saucepan, bring 2 cups water and sugar to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat. Stir in the lemon juice, zest and remaining water; cool slightly.
In a blender, combine 1 cup of lemon mixture and the blackberries; cover and process until blended. Strain and discard seeds. Pour blackberry mixture and remaining lemon mixture into a pitcher; stir well. Add food coloring if desired. Refrigerate until chilled. Serve in chilled glasses over ice.

Easy to make and delicious! I made mine with strawberries instead of blackberries because that is what the kids requested. I'll definitely make again and try different fruits!

Eeeexcellent! I added some ginger ale and crushed ice to my glass(1/2 bb lemonade and 1/2 g.ale)! Great drink for lounging by the pool! AND blackberries are good for stomach issues.

What a fun, refreshing drink! We loved it! We did skip the food coloring as the blackberries added just a bit of color. Next time I'll try it with honey or stevia in place of the sugar.

I just made half the recipe, but used the same amount of blackberries. I added it to a store bought blackberry lemonade that was tasteless! Now its yummy!

I love the flavor combination, but will use Splenda instead of sugar to lower the calorie count.

Great refreshing summertime drink. Can also make from frozen blackberries in the dead of winter to shake off the wintertime blahs.
