This meal couldn’t make dinnertime simpler! Not only is Kielbasa Bow Tie Skillet a real crowd-pleaser, it comes together in just one pan. It freezes and reheats beautifully, too, so you’ll want to fix extras for a fast entree later. “My daughters are picky eaters,” says Lori Daniels of Beverly, West Virginia, “but this reminds them of macaroni and cheese. I toss in their favorite veggies and they gobble it up!”

  • 8 ounces uncooked bow tie pasta
  • 1 pound smoked kielbasa or smoked Polish sausage, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 jar (4-1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1-1/2 cups fresh or frozen snow peas
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese

1-1/2 cup: 813 calories, 50g fat (23g saturated fat), 133mg cholesterol, 1624mg sodium, 58g carbohydrate (9g sugars, 4g fiber), 35g protein.


  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute sausage and mushrooms in butter. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer.
  2. Combine cornstarch and milk until smooth; gradually add to the skillet. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Drain pasta; add to sausage mixture. Stir in the peas and cheese; cook until cheese is melted.
    Freeze option: Cool pasta; transfer to freezer containers. Freeze for up to 3 months. To use, thaw in refrigerator overnight. Place in a Dutch oven; heat through. Sprinkle with additional cheese.
    Yield: 4 servings.

"I prepared this recipe tonight. There actually was nothing wrong with the recipe except maybe it was a little bland but it just was not what we cared for. The snow peas were very large and I did try to cut them in halves. This recipe has good reviews so it is just us. Please do try it and you may like it much more than we did."

"I omitted the mushrooms and used fresh snow peas and fat free milk. I also had leftover some wine and cheese sausage, which I used instead of the kielbasa. This turned out really good. I think next time, I'll try a different kind of shredded cheese (just to switch it up). A good quick meal. I will be making this again."

"Made this for dinner and everyone liked. It was simple to prepare. I like to cook kielbasa sausage and look for recipes that feature it. I left out the snow peas since I didn't have. For some reason mine came out way saucier than the picture. Except for the snow peas followed the directions. Not sure if I needed more cornstarch but it just gave it more of a pasta dish with sauce feel for me."

"Loved this recipe......I had no snow peas so I used frozen broccoli instead.....and I used grated parmesan cheese in place of the cheddar cheese b/c I thought it sounded better. My 3 young children (5 yrs. and under) loved this as well. That's always a surefire sign it's good. Will definitely make it again....."

"I lightened it up a bit by using turkey smoked sausage and 2% milk. As suggested by others, I doubled the sauce ingredients (butter, milk, cornstarch and cheese) and was glad I did. I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned. I also replaced the peas with steamed brocolli florets because not many in my house care for peas. Put in a bit of Mrs. Dash regular. I also saved a bit of the pasta water to add while mixing the sauce and pasta. Honestly, I wasn't sure how all these ingredients would taste when combined, but it was hearty and delicious."

"All I can say is this is FABULOUS!!!! I wouldn't change a thing besides adding 8oz of fresh mushrooms instead of the 4.5 oz jar of mushrooms and add a 1/4 cup more shredded cheddar cheese! This is a GREAT RECIPE and QUICK ONE!!!!!!"
