This was so easy and delicious! I left out the sugar and drizzled a bit of honey on the top before baking. It turned out perfectly. My husband can’t stop eating it so I can see that I’ll be baking this bread a lot in the future...definitely a keeper!
I’ve been making this for years but without the honey. It’s very versatile, I like it with a cup of shredded sharp cheddar and Guinness Stout as the beer. It’s a hearty side for chili or brisket. Also I substitute 7Up for beer for sweet bread. I swirl cinnamon and brown sugar thru the batter for the best toast.
Excellent! Family gobbled up this recipe. It's definitely a keeper.
Don't really need the extra sugar with the honey unless you want it very sweet.
Can I use artisanal bread flour?

I love this bread. It makes great toast for breakfast with the left overs.
