This Viral Video Shows You How to Make 3-Ingredient Fettuccine Alfredo

You'll need butter, fettuccine and Parmigiano-Reggiano.

TikTok has given us a ton of surprisingly useful hacks. In recent months, we’ve learned how to clean some of the most difficult items in our kitchen, like greasy ovens and pots and pans with burnt-on gunk. Now, we’ve got this recipe for a delicious fettuccine Alfredo that only requires three ingredients. I know what I’ll be cooking tonight!

How to Make 3-Ingredient Fettuccine Alfredo

There’s no trick here. You really only need three ingredients to make this pasta dish:

  • Salted butter
  • Fettuccine
  • Parmigiano-Reggiano (Not to be confused with Parmesan—here’s the difference.)

To start, take that Italian cheese and grate it up super fine. Boil the water for your pasta—don’t forget to salt it—and drop in your fettuccine. While it cooks, melt your butter in a saute pan over medium heat.

The fettuccine will be done after 9-1/2 minutes. Save a cup of pasta water, drain your fettuccine and add it to the butter. Then, little by little, start adding the shredded cheese and splashes of the pasta reserved pasta water. Keep adding cheese and small amounts of pasta water, which will help maintain that velvety coating.

After about two minutes in the pan, you’re ready to plate your pasta. Add a final touch of shredded Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese on top of your plated dish, and you’re done. It’s as simple as that!
