My husband and I thought the original skillet dish lacked pizzazz, so we created this tastier version. I've had teenage nieces and nephews request the recipe after their first bite. —Joyce Whipps, West Des Moines, Iowa

"I'm always looking for quick meals to put together and this one is definitely a keeper. It can be put together in a flash and it still has lots of flavor."

"The flavors were great! The sweetness from the bbq sauce didn't make it too sweet. I followed the directions exactly and it came out great. Loved it."

"if you're looking for something quick and easy to make, but could care less how it tastes, this is it. This was the most bland dish I've made in a very long time. I'm being generous and giving 3 stars only because it is a good base recipe that can be made decent with a few additions from the spice rack..."

"This was GREAT! I doubled the recipe to have some to freeze. I used instant brown rice and it turned out just fine. I think it would be just as good with ketchup in lieu of the barbecue sauce."

"Really good and very easy to make. I might omit the pickles as they didn't do a lot for us, but all in all this was simple and tasty."

"I thought this recipe would have significantly more flavor than it did. I even used a spicy BBQ sauce. Will not make again."

"This is a go to recipe. When I bring leftovers to work, everyone stops and asks what smells so yummy. I've given out the recipe several times. Great comfort food!"

"EVERYONE ate it!! With four boys and a picky husband who usually requires a side of beef at every meal, it's increasingly difficult to please everyone. This is a winner!"

"I didn't have pickles, so I used some dill pickle relish mixed in with the water and sauce instead, and it came out pretty good. I also cooked the ground beef in the same pan that I cooked the bacon in, and that helped add to the flavor."
