- 10 fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 5 bacon strips, halved lengthwise
- Place asparagus on a sheet of waxed paper; coat with cooking spray. Sprinkle with pepper; turn to coat. Wrap a bacon piece around each spear; secure ends with toothpicks.
- Grill, uncovered, over medium heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until bacon is crisp. Discard toothpicks.

We make this often as an appetizer for get-togethers. I drizzle a tiny bit of sesame oil on the asparagus and use fresh ground pepper. Wrap the bacon around 3-4 stalks. As others commented, thinly sliced bacon works best with this recipe.

Now who would have ever thought to wrap asparagus with bacon - it got my kids to eat the asparagus - I did wrap two together just to get more veggies down the kidlets

I prepared this by bunching 5 spears and baking. My husband said it would work better with thinner sliced bacon but the end result was very flavorful.
