Dog Biscuits Recipe
  • Prep: 15 min. Bake: 30 min. + cooling
  • Yield: 31 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup toasted wheat germ
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, wheat germ and cinnamon. Stir in the water, peanut butter, egg and oil. On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with a 3-in. bone-shaped cookie cutter.
  • Place 2-in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned (tops may crack). Cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 31 dog biscuits.

Editor's Note: Reduced-fat peanut butter is not recommended for this recipe.

SO easy to make and my Lucy loved them! I used Christmas cookie cutters and am going to give them to all the dog lovers at work!

Can't wait to give these treats to all the little furry babies in our lives! also, dmboyles asked for a cat treat recipe, i don't have that one, but my kitty Merlyn is almost 12 years old and has a hard time with hard treats so i found this soft treat recipe below. let me know how you like it. i haven't tried it yet. i am going to make it for xmas for him too! hope it works for you! :)

Soft Cat Treats Recipe

Homemade Cat Food and Treats Recipes:

Ready in: 30-60 minutes

Difficulty: 3 (1=easiest :: hardest=5)

Serves/Makes: 24

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup white flour

3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

5 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour cream

1/4 cup cornmeal

PREPARATION:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine cheeses and yogurt. Add flour and cornmeal.

Knead dough into a ball and roll to 1/4 inch. Cut into one inch sized pieces and place on greased cookie sheet.

Bake for 25 minutes.

NUTRITION:

40 calories, 2 grams fat, 4 grams carbohydrates, 2 grams protein per serving. This recipe is low in sodium.
