Cabbage Sloppy Joes
"Many friends think these tangy sandwiches are regular sloppy joes," relates Darlene Brenden of Salem, Oregon. "The crunchy cabbage is a delicious and healthy way to stretch the number of servings."

This is our favorite sloppy joe recipe! I love that it has tons of veggies. I use a whole green pepper but change nothing else.
Theses are delicious! I followed some of the reviews initially and cut back on the vinegar and lemon juice, but after tasting we found them too sweet. So added the rest of the vinegar and lemon juice and it was the perfect sweet/tangy taste. Everyone loved these and I will be making often.
I followed this recipe and I knew family wouldn't like as is, so I put in some taco seasonings (like I usually do)) Perfect. I knew they would be okay with the cabbage as I make Cabbage Pockets (Rolls) all of the time.
A great way to sneak a serving of vegetables into your meal or use as a filler to make your meat go father. I couldn't taste or see the cabbage once it was shredded fine and cooked up with the meat. Very tasty, if you don't like tangy you might want to cut back a little on the vinegar or increase the sugar a little. We thought the flavor was very good as written.
I make these a lot and really love them. My husband is not a fan of sloppy joes but he does like these, which is funny because he hates cabbage. Ok , he does not know that's one of the ingredents.
I love this recipe, but my husband hates any kind of sloppy Joe, so I can only make it when he's not home. I cut the amount of lemon juice and vinegar in half. Even my kids like these, and it's so healthy!
These were fantastic! I almost passed this recipe up because of the cabbage, but I'm glad I didn't. These are the best Sloppy Joes I've had... they are now replacing my longtime favorite Sloppy Joe recipe, everyone in my family has rated this one number 1! Best of all, my two toddlers ate these up, not even realizing there was cabbage, celery or green peppers in them. This one's a keeper! We loved the tanginess, it wasn't overboard... but if it seems too much, it's very simple to just decrease the amount of lemon juice or ketchup and then add more if needed. Thanks for a great recipe!
Great way to get veges in the kids without them knowing. I also used ground trukey instead of beef. I often substitute turkey or ground pork or a combination, again I don't tell my family. Turkey of course is more costly but overall better for you.
We make it with veggie crumbles for a healthier meal, yet it still tastes great.
These are the tangy-est sloppy joes I have ever made; don't think I'll do that again. I did like the cabbage in them though! I put them in the "Cheeseburger Buns" recipe (also found on ToH) and they turned out nice.
