This stew has a nice flavor and is very filling. It's the perfect dish to have at the end of a cold day. However, it does take a LONG time to make.

The cook time of 1 1/4 hours listed at the top of the recipe is an error and should read 3 hours and 14 minutes. Dinner was late but the stew was good and worth the wait.
