Cow Pies Candy Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped slivered almonds

Directions

  • In a heavy saucepan or microwave, melt the chocolate chips and shortening over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat; stir in raisins and almonds. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Chill until ready to serve. Yield: 2 dozen.

Nutritional Facts 1 serving (2 each) equals 199 calories, 12 g fat (6 g saturated fat), 6 mg cholesterol, 24 mg sodium, 22 g carbohydrate, 2 g fiber, 3 g protein.

These are excellent! I didn't use the raisins, used 3/4 cup of coconut instead. Yummy! I did use semi-sweet chocolate as that is what I had on hand, but milk chocolate would certainly be better and that is what I am buying today to make another batch. I did take 1 cup whole almonds and chopped them a little, but they could also be left whole. And someone mentioned peanuts, I have had them that way too and yes, delicious!

Delish! We tested it out for my son's farm-themed birthday party. We used Wilton's candy and melted it in the micro for 2 minutes. No need for the shortening. Also, replaced the almonds with pecans we had in the house. Wonderful and Easy!
