Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups dry quick-cooking or old-fashioned oatmeal
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1/2 cup raisins, chopped nuts or coconut

Directions

In a large saucepan, heat butter, milk and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat. Stir in oatmeal, cocoa and raisins, nuts or coconut. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Cool. Yield: about 3 dozen cookies.
