Back in the 1960s, I bought an old cookbook at an auction. Inside were several old recipes handwritten on plain paper, including recipes for home remedies like this tea.—Genevieve Corley, Amesbury, Massachusetts

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons dried elderberry blossoms or 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh elderberry blossoms
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Sugar to taste
  • 1 thin lemon slice

  1. In a tea cup or mug, steep elderberry blossoms in boiling water for 5-10 minutes; strain. Add sugar and lemon.
