Date Nut Balls

A friend gave me this recipe more than 30 years ago. It is my husband's favorite treat. I like these with pecans or walnuts. If you do not like nuts, omit the nuts and use 3 cups Rice Krispies. —Melinda Lord, Washington, Iowa

These treats are wonderful. Easy, no-bake, and fun to make and the rice crispies add a nice crunch. Great new addition to my holiday baking list. Thanks Melinda!

This is my recipe. I recommend you heat the butter, sugar and dates until sugar is nearly disolved. Soft ball stage of 220 degrees. They hold together nicely and are chewey.
