This Viral Video Shows You How to Make a ‘Steak Cake’

2020 has been the year of cakes disguised as other things. Maybe you’ve seen the viral videos of people cutting into stacks of books, puppies, bags of chips and more just to reveal the entire thing was artful frosting on the outside and fluffy cake on the inside.

One of the latest TikTok trends takes this trend in a different direction. Prepare to have your mind blown by steak cake! No, this isn’t a cake that’s made to look like steak. It’s actually made with steak and topped with mashed potatoes!

How Is a Steak Cake Made?

TikTok user @MaxtheMeatGuy recently showed viewers his steak cake recipe, which as you might guess involves large quantities of meat. He uses layers of ribeye, strip steak and sirloin for the base, then uses creamy mashed potatoes for the frosting in between layers and the surface, so the entire thing almost resembles a wedding cake. The final touch involves making decorative roses out of bacon that’s been rolled up and grilled. He also adds a few sprigs of mint for garnish.

We have to admit that once we get past the idea of a cake being savory rather than sweet, this steak cake sounds pretty good. It seems like it would take less time to put together than a homemade birthday cake, too!
