THIS cookie recipe comes close to the wonderful taste of chocolate that Mama was able to produce in her cakes and cookies. Because of the "crackles" in these cookies, my granddaughter tells me I've made a mistake when I bake them. "But they taste so good," she adds. -Ruth Cain, Hartselle, Alabama

I made these for a Local Fair this year, and I took 2nd place in "Rolled Cookies" I was HAPPY. I will make these again this year for a Christmas Cookie Exchange I am having.

the amount of dough is not nearly enough to make the amount the recipe calls for unless you want tiny cookies.

I make this every year for my dad for Christmas-- simple enough to make in between work, class, and essays (not to mention holiday shopping!). Great cocoa flavor, perfect with a mug of coffee.
