I think this recipe was delicious. Especially considering that iced tea is normally consumed on hot and humid summer days when your sugar and hydration levels need to be maintained, I don't really see too much of a problem with the sweetness. As afore mentioned, use a sugar substitute if the amount used is a concern.

If you notice it's 7.5 cups of sugar but it makes 5 batches which equals 1.5 cups per serving like everyone is suggesting. Sounds good to me!
Personally prefer unsweetened real iced tea and a squeeze of an actual lemon. Just look at the chemicals I avoid!
unsweetened means no sweetner
Re: Lemon Ice Tea Boil 9 reg. teabags in a qt. of water. Strain and pour into a 1 gal. pitcher. Add 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/2 tub of Crystal Lite Pink Lemonade mix. Add enough cold water to fill the pitcher and stir. This recipe is easy and a lot cheaper to make. When serving, pour over ice cubes in your glass. Sometimes I add some chopped fresh ginger to the boiling water.?
