In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the beef with the onions and garlic until it’s no longer pink and the onions are tender—about four to five minutes. Drain the beef and onion mixture to remove any excess fat. Return to the skillet.

Editor’s Tip: Draining the fat ensures the egg rolls cook up crispy and don’t become soggy once they cool.

Step 2: Add the mix-ins

Stir in the shredded cheese, pickles, crumbled bacon, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, ketchup, salt and pepper. Then remove the skillet from the heat.

Step 3: Fill the egg roll wrappers

With one corner of an egg roll wrapper facing you, place about a third-cup of filling just below the center of the wrapper.

Editor’s Tip: Cover the remaining wrappers with a damp paper towel until ready to use, so they don’t dry out.

Step 4: Fold and roll

Fold the bottom corner of the wonton wrapper over the filling. Then, moisten the remaining wrapper edges with a beaten egg before folding the side corners in toward the center over the filling. To finish, roll up tightly and press the end to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 5: Fry

In a deep fryer or a deep skillet, heat the oil to 375°F. Fry the egg rolls, a few at a time, until golden brown, three to four minutes, occasionally turning to cook evenly on all sides. Remove to drain on paper towels. Repeat.

Editor’s Tip: Keep the egg rolls warm by transferring them to a wire rack positioned over a baking sheet and placing them in a warm oven.

Step 6: Make the sauce

In a small bowl, combine the dip recipe ingredients and stir to combine. Serve alongside the warm egg rolls.

Cheeseburger Egg Roll Variations

While this recipe sticks closely to the original cheesecake factory recipe, don’t be afraid to customize the filling with other burger toppings you enjoy. Diced sauteed mushrooms and Swiss with crumbled bacon would be divine, or try a spicy burger twist with salsa, pepper Jack and diced avocado.

Tips for Making Cheesecake Factory Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

What kind of dipping sauces should I serve?

While we can’t get enough of the dipping sauce The Cheesecake Factory serves with their cheeseburger egg rolls, it’s far from the only option. This copycat Chick-fil-A sauce would be a five-star combination, as well as this curry mayo dipping sauce and any one of these barbecue sauce recipes. Or try one of the best french fry dipping sauces.

Can the egg rolls be made gluten-free?

Yes! For gluten-free cheeseburger egg rolls, swap the traditional wonton wrapper for spring roll wrappers. Spring roll wrappers are made with rice flour rather than regular wheat flour, so they’re typically safe for those who need to avoid gluten. If you’re especially sensitive, check the label to ensure the wrappers have been processed in a gluten-free certified facility.

Can you make these in an air fryer?

Sure! Turn the air fryer to 400°. Try cooking the egg rolls in a single layer spritzed with cooking spray for eight to twelve minutes. Flip once, spritz with additional cooking spray, and air fry for an additional four to six minutes until golden brown.
