I came up with this comforting soup when I was crunched for time and wanted to use up leftover baked potatoes. Since then, it has become a mealtime staple. Its wonderful aroma always gets cheers from my husband when he arrives home from work. Julie Smithouser Colorado Springs, Colorado

This is a fantastic and simple potato soup. A few changes I made: 6-8 baking potatoes (we like it chunky), 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp white pepper. I plan on making this all through the winter! Thanks!!

This soup was really good. I cut the recipe in half, only used 1/2 teaspoon of garlic and worcestershire sauce and did not use the liquid smoke. Even using such a small amount of garlic powder, it was still pretty strong. It is a very fast soup to make.

Soup was excellent! I made it the first time with the full 2 tsp. of garlic powder, WAY too overpowering. Second time cut garlic powder back to 1/2 tsp., and everyone was much more pleased! Very filling and yummy!

My husband and I love this soup. I made it with leftover ham instead of bacon, and it was really good.

I decided to make this soup because of the high rating by reviewers and the magazine but I did not like this soup at all. I think it was the worcestershire sauce. It just didn't seem to work with the other flavors. will not make again.

Thanks for sharing this great recipe. I tried it last night after my husband had day surgery and he really wanted some potato soup. We both loved it. TX Hashie

Okay, I chose to try this recipe as I was remembering how much I loved my Grandma's growing up. While I was making it, there were times it did not took extremely appealing. However, once I added the sour cream, and it was creamer with a beautiful color, I felt there was hope. This soup was awesome, and I will definately be making it again! The flavor was wonderful, and with the shredded cheddar and bacon (I added some to the soup as well), it was to die for!

This soup is so great and so easy to make! I also like this because as I'm making supper for the night I can bake the potatoes for the next night's supper at the same time so it puts me one step ahead for the next night's dinner! I like to make this soup on a Thursday so we have it for lunch and supper the next day too....especially in COLD Wisconsin! Thanks for the great recipes!

This recipe is so wonderful!! I made two minor changes: since I didn't have baked potatos on hand, I "baked" my potatoes in the microwave! Also, I am on a red-meat fast right now and decided to saute onion and garlic in olive oil, instead of using powders and bacon. This turned out to be a GREAT adjustment! Also, to get the wonderful smoked ham flavor, I used GOYA Ham Flavor Concentrate- it was really, really amazing!! What a fantastic recipe!!
