Learn the Walmart Price Match rules, and end up with a better deal than you could have imagined!

If there’s one thing we absolutely love, it’s a good deal. Whether it’s for a new KitchenAid mixer we’ve been eyeing for months, a pair of boots for winter or even a single candy bar, we can’t help but get excited when we see Walmart price tags reveal a deal. And if there’s one thing we know you’re not taking advantage of enough, it’s the Walmart Price Match policy! Here’s what you need to know.

How Does Walmart’s Price Match Policy Work?

If you’re not familiar with the concept, price matching is when you find the same product at a different store for a lower price and ask to have that price matched by Walmart. The price match policy has specific criteria for shoppers to meet:

  • The item must be the exact make and model
  • The item must be in stock on both and the other retailer’s website
  • One item per customer per day
  • No rain checks will be offered for items not currently in stock
  • The item must be sold by specific retailers, like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Michaels or Sears

Make sure to contact Walmart Customer Care to confirm that the item you wish to price match fits all the criteria. If it does, you just scored yourself a deal! This is a particularly good approach when you have Walmart gift cards to use.

Is There Anything Walmart Won’t Price Match?

Walmart won’t price match items that decrease in price after purchase, prices from third-party sellers, discounts, bundles, damaged items and event-related discounts. You can read up on the entire list on Walmart’s price match policy page.

Don’t forget about all the money you’ll save with Walmart+ either—deals are everywhere, you just need to know where to look! And if you want to keep your shopping sustainable, Walmart is planning to get rid of plastic bags in stores.
