Your loved one will feel like a kid in a candy store with this sweet care package. Here's everything you need to know about Sugarwish.

Our editors and experts handpick every product we feature. We may earn a commission from your purchases.

I firmly believe that the best gifts keep on giving (read: they’re filled with yummy treats). If they’re customized to the giftee and work for any occasion, even better.

Sugarwish checks all these boxes—and more. We’re obsessed with the fact that all the decision-making is in the hands of the recipient. Meaning, no more second guessing if that trinket or salted caramel coffee you’re sending will be a hit or miss. Your loved one picks out exactly what they want.

We’ve been big fans of Sugarwish for some time now, so when I had the opportunity to receive my own box, compliments of Taste of Home‘s Senior Shopping Editor, Katie Bandurski, I was thrilled. From ordering to receiving, here’s everything you need to know about sending a Sugarwish.

What is a Sugarwish?

It’s the sweetest care package to send to friends and family without having to guess their favorite treats. Sugarwish makes it easy to send a gift they’ll actually use (and eat) by sending the recipient a link to select what they want in their gift box.

The sender picks the size and type of box they want to send, and the recipient customizes their ultimate snack. With options for selecting candy, cookies, popcorn, savory snacks, cotton candy, coffee and tea, wine and even dog treats, the gift-giving options are endless. How We Tested Sugarwish

I have been consistently testing Sugarwish for the past three years. I’ve tried a wide assortment of offerings and acted as both the sender and recipient.

First Sugarwish Test: Candy

Toh Sugarwish1 Madi Koetting JveditMadi Koetting/Taste of Home

I first tested the service in August 2022 when my wonderful colleague and Taste of Home’s Senior Shopping Editor gifted me a Sugarwish.

Katie, the giver, says:

Ordering couldn’t be easier. Simply click “Send a Sugarwish” and choose between treats, drinks or “selects.” The “selects” options give your giftee the most control. They can decide in the moment what they’re in the mood to eat or drink. For Madi’s box, I chose a medium Custom Select.

Once I’d made my food and drink category selections (you can choose up to six), I chose an e-card to accompany the gift. Sift through options for literally every occasion, from congratulations to birthdays. You can also upload your own image for a custom card.

Then, I picked my delivery method. Sugarwish has email options (which I chose), messaging platforms and a printout. You can also choose a specific date to send the gift. Finally, I filled out Madi’s information and checked out. The whole process took less than five minutes.

Madi, the giftee, says:

After Katie set up the Sugarwish box, a link to choose my goodies arrived in my inbox. I love gummy candy, so I chose a few different kinds. I have a savory tooth, too, so the tailgate mix also made it into my box (it contains goldfish, pretzels and peanuts). And because I was feeling adventurous, I let Sugarwish pick the last treat for me. The candy selection process was quick and easy. However, deciding between all of the delectable flavors was difficult. To say I felt like a kid in a candy store is an understatement.

My Sugarwish arrived in a gorgeous candy cane-striped red and blue box at my door. The packaging was a 10/10, and all six snacks I chose were neatly assorted inside sealed treat cups. It only took three short days for it to arrive, and I was amazed at how fresh the candy tasted.

The portion sizes were more than enough for one person (or one person with a very prominent sweet tooth). With six candies to enjoy, I enlisted the help of my sister/roommate to help me eat this sweet gift. We treated ourselves to a movie night and indulged in all the sugary goodness. Afterwards, there were still plenty of treats to go around for quick indulgences. Even on day five, the candy tasted as fresh as it did on day one.

Second Sugarwish Test: Cookies

Toha23 SugarwishMadi Koetting/Taste of Home

Since my initial Sugarwish test, I’ve had the opportunity to test more than just their candy and snack offerings. Next order of business? Cookies. I sent the Sugarwish to myself this time by selecting the cookie category, the small box size (four cookies total) and preferred flavors. I love that there are plenty of flavors to choose from without feeling overwhelmed by the options. Choose from classics like strawberry frosted or chocolate chip along with out-of-the-ordinary tastes like stuffed peanut butter chip and cinnamon roll cookies.

As for the taste test? The stuffed peanut butter chip cookie had some broken-off bits when it arrived. But the rich flavor made up for it. I heated it up in the microwave for 10 seconds and was delighted with a mix of peanut butter and chocolatey goodness with each bite. I also tested a stuffed double and two frosted cookies (strawberry and cinnamon). Though they satisfied my sweet tooth, they weren’t the absolute best cookies I’ve ever tasted, but they’re delicious to snack on nonetheless. There’s just something about cookies straight out of the oven that will always beat pre-baked ones. Still, they make a sweet gift so long as they’re enjoyed within a couple of days of receiving.

Third Sugarwish Test: Coffee

Need a morning pick-me-up? Sugarwish has you covered with coffee, too. By now, my Sugarwish experience is pretty extensive, but I was excited to try one of the brand’s beverage offerings. A small size allowed me to pick four coffees, teas, pour-over lattes, cold brew teas or biscotti. I was impressed by the wide variety of choices and the option to pick either grounds or whole beans.

When my Sugarwish arrived, I was eager to start brewing. I picked four coffee options, two ground and two whole beans. Each varietal was individually wrapped in a small box and again in a vacuum-sealed bag. Each 2-ounce pick has enough coffee to brew four to eight cups, depending on your strength preference. I enjoyed my Sugarwish over several mornings. Most days I made a single pour-over cup, other days I brewed the entire bag in my drip coffeemaker. Each blend was fresh and delicious. Like my favorite coffee club, Sugarwish made it easy to try a range of brews from around the world.

Fourth Sugarwish Test: Flowers and Plants

Sugarwish Flowers And PlantsKatie Bandurski/Taste of Home

One of the newer Sugarwish offerings lets you send a little greenery to brighten someone’s day. There are six sizes in the plants and flowers category, with picks ranging from a seed kit to a full-size flower bouquet or potted plant. Since most Sugarwish items are consumable, I was curious if these lifestyle offerings would live up to the hype.

I tried both a Medium (which is redeemable for a potted plant) and the X-Large (which is redeemable for a flower bouquet). In classic Sugarwish fashion, the ordering and redemption process was a breeze. I was pleased to see 10 plant options and nine bouquet choices. I opted for a classic Peace Lily in a white ceramic pot. As well as a “My Cherie Amour” bouquet, featuring pink roses, alstroemeria and succulents.

My picks arrived incredibly quickly in thoughtful packaging. Keep in mind, however, that these Sugarwish gifts are fulfilled by a third-party vendor (Lively Root for plants and The Bouqs Co. for flowers), so don’t expect the typical blue-and-white striped packaging. In fact, the only distinction this was a Sugarwish was the included sticker and card. The plant was beautifully wrapped (nary a spot of soil out of place!) and the Bouqs bouquet featured fresh, tight buds.

Overall, both the plant and flower Sugarwish deliveries, well, delivered. I also appreciate the price transparency. As we learned while testing the best flower delivery services, it can be hard to know exactly how much that bouquet will cost after shipping charges and fees. As a sender, the price you see is exactly the price you pay.

Fifth Sugarwish Test: Cocktail Mixers

Sugarwish Cocktail Mixer with a glass and a jar on a tableEmily Way/Taste of Home

I tested Sugarwish’s cocktail mixer gift as part of our piece on the best cocktail kits, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience. Like the candy, coffee and cookie options, shoppers choose the number of mixers (anywhere from two to twelve). From there, Sugarwish does the rest. Your recipient selects their picks from a list of over 20 options that span a range of flavors and alcohol pairings. My “large” box contained four options—I enjoyed the simple margarita, blackberry lemonade, spiced cherry mule and pineapple mule options.

I love that each bottle offers a generous amount of mixer, especially for those who opt to mix them with seltzer rather than shots for a mocktail twist. Simple Times mixers use natural ingredients and don’t taste overly sweet or artificial—nothing like those $5 mixers from the grocery store. Another aspect I love is the gorgeous gift box, which also arrives with a coaster featuring a QR code you can scan for drink recipes. Fancy!

How quickly does Sugarwish deliver?

Every Sugarwish delivery we’ve tested has arrived within 4-6 business days, which is true to what the company claims. Treats arrive fresh and last for several days after they’re delivered. Plants and flowers arrive even faster in just 1-2 days.

Can I order Sugarwish for myself?

Yes, you can absolutely order Sugarwish for yourself. Simply follow the prompts like you would if you were sending them to a friend, and then add yourself as the recipient.

How many cookies do you get with Sugarwish?

Like all Sugarwish boxes, the giver chooses the size box they wish to send. Cookie boxes start at a mini size, which includes two cookies, and run all the way up to 24 cookies in the grand box. Talk about a delicious gift basket!

How much candy do you get with Sugarwish?

Anywhere from two to 24 candies. Box sizes include mini (two candies), small (four), medium (six), large (eight), extra large (12) and grand (24). The mini, small and medium sizes are best for individual receivers, whereas the large, extra large and grand boxes are ideal for families or corporate work settings.

Final Verdict

Katie, the giver, says: I will definitely be sending more Sugarwish gifts. The site is so easy to use, and I can rest easy knowing my recipients will love their gift. There is truly something for everyone. Plus, thanks to the wide variety of delivery options, you can send a gift with just your recipient’s email or phone number. This takes away the awkward “Hey, what’s your address again?” question in our digital world—especially with a new acquaintance. It’s the perfect “thinking of you” or “thank you” gift!

Madi, the giftee, says: My Sugarwish gift experience truly felt like I went to the candy store and picked out the goodies myself. I was interested in seeing if I could customize it to my taste buds, even after Katie selected the box type, and luckily, I was. The candy tasted as fresh as it did on day one as it did on day five. Of all the Sugarwish offerings I’ve tested, I stand by the candy category. You can get a mix of sweet and savory treats within the candy category that lasts several days after receiving. I give Sugarwish an A+ for making the sweetest gift that’s personalized to the giftee.
