After a few years of non-traditional holiday celebrations, Canadian families are looking to honour and revel in nostalgic holiday traditions. This holiday season, Pop-Tarts wants to help families reimagine the classic holiday activity of making and decorating a gingerbread house. Using Pop-Tarts to create a gingerbread house is an ingenious user-friendly hack that brings freshness, ingenuity and inspiration to these extraordinary family moments. With 7 delicious Pop-Tarts toaster pastry flavours and 2 Pop-Tarts bites flavours to choose from, Pop-Tarts are the ingredient Canadians need to create the perfect gingerbread house this holiday season!

Ingredients

• 1 flat baking sheet, heavy cardboard or paper plate for the base
• Aluminum foil (optional)
• 2 tubs of white frosting and 1 piping bag
• Store-bought white icing in a jar or squeezable tube
• 6 Frosted Kellogg’s* Pop-Tarts* - any flavour
• 1 box of Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts* Bites
• Other candies or sprinkles to help decorate the Pop-Tarts* Gingerbread House as desired

Directions

1. Fill an icing piping bag with a round tip to ice the gingerbread house. Alternatively, you can fill a plastic storage bag and cut a small corner off the end and use that to ice.

2. Cover a flat baking sheet or a piece of heavy cardboard with aluminum foil and then spread about 3/4 tub of white frosting about 1/4" thick in the middle of the foil to create a winter landscape. Alternatively, you can use an upside-down paper plate as a base.

3. Now it’s time to assemble the house! Place two Pop-Tarts* beside each other in an "L" shape and cut the tall one at a diagonal on both sides creating the ends of the house. Repeat this step so you have a total of 2 Pop-Tarts* with flat bottoms and pointed tops. These will be used as the front and back of your house.

4. Using the piping bag and the second tub of frosting, apply frosting to the edges of two more Pop-Tarts* which will be used as your support walls. Then, attach the two pointed pieces, one on each end, to build the base of your house.

5. Once the icing is set on the base of your house, use more icing to attach two whole Kellogg’s* Pop-Tarts* to the top of the house creating a roof. Add the icing all along the top of the base of the roof, as well as at the seam on the top. Hold this in place for 5 minutes to help secure, then let sit for 30 minutes before continuing with decorating.

6. Now, using the remaining icing, attach Kellogg’s* Pop-Tarts* Bites to the home to create windows and doors on your house.

7. Decorate your house with remaining Kellogg's* Pop-Tarts* Bites, and your favourite candy and sprinkles!
