There’s nothing more disappointing than stale chips, especially when you just bought the bag. Sure, chip clips are useful for keeping air out, but they don’t form an airtight seal. That leads to air leakage and the dreaded stale cereal surprise—easily the worst start to any morning. Plus, they’re not easy to store, so I can never find them when I need them. That’s why I swapped out those bulky clips for these colorful, easy-to-use Gripstic bag clips.

What Are GripStics Bag Clips?

When it comes to reducing food waste, there are tons of products on the market that claim to keep snacks fresh. These bag clips are probably my favorite thanks to their easy-to-use operation and compact size. Each clip comes in a color-coded hue, so it’s simple to find the right size at a glance.

They’re simple to use—just slide them across the top of any open bag to instantly seal it shut. The resulting airtight seal prevents leaking, freezer burn and spoilage. Aside from my coffee scoop clip, these colorful bag clips have replaced most of the bag sealers in my kitchen!

Why I Love Them

As opposed to chip clips which only seal bags at a single point, GripStics bag clips work like a mini bag sealer and seal the entire opening. However, unlike the bag sealer, these bag clips don’t use heat to adhere each side of the opening together. Instead, they slide across the top of any bag to create a faux “Ziploc” seal on the top. This makes it easy to re-open the bag by simply sliding them back off.

Even better, zero sharp edges, easy-to-swallow springs or pinching means they’re safe for kids to use. A slim profile makes them easy to stash in a drawer next to reusable straws. My favorite feature is that they don’t need to bend or open, so the product’s lifetime is extended for longer use.

But Don’t Take My Word for It!

Over 9,000 Amazon reviewers praise these bag clips for being an easy-to-use improvement on the standard chip clip. “These are super,” writes verified purchaser Jenny. “I had never tried this style of bag clip. I was in the market for new bag clips because yet again, my spring action-style of bag clips had broken. These solve several issues:

  1. They slide on and keep the entire bag closed—not just the middle part.
  2. They are slim and many more can fit in my kitchen drawer.
  3. This slim line clip with the bag takes up less space in my pantry/fridge/freezer.
  4. It keeps my bags neat and tidy—the bag doesn’t get scrunched up into a big ball and the food contents don’t escape
  5. They are big enough for the bag. (The spring/clip type was sometimes too small and would either pop off or break.)

These fit and stay on securely. I will definitely be ordering more. I got the medium and large ones because they fit most of my needs. I will probably buy the small ones now for the small items I have as well. It took a little getting used to sliding them from the side (instead of clipping them from the top) but now that I have the hang of it, it is easy and I won’t go back to the previous type.”

Where to Buy the Bag Clips

GripStics bag clips are only available on Amazon and typically ring up at $24 for a 12-pack of assorted sizes. Because they don’t warp, crack or come with a spring, the clips are built to last for several years of use. Pick up a pack and never bite into another stale chip again.
