Chicken with Garlic Sauce Ingredients

  • Cornstarch
  • Soy sauce
  • Water
  • Honey
  • Sesame oil
  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Sweet red peppers
  • Garlic cloves
  • Green onions

  • Hot cooked rice

Directions

Step 1: Make the cornstarch mixture

In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch, soy sauce, water and honey until blended.

Step 2: Cook the chicken

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken, and cook and stir until no longer pink, 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan.

Step 3: Cook the peppers and garlic

In the same pan, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced red peppers, and cook and stir until crisp-tender, 2 to 4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook and stir for 1 minute longer.

Step 4: Make the garlic sauce

Whisk the cornstarch mixture, and then add it into the pan, stirring as you go. Bring the sauce to a boil. Cook and stir until thickened, 1 to 2 minutes.

Step 5: Add the chicken

Add the chicken back to the pan. Stir and heat through.

Step 6: Serve

Take the Chinese chicken with garlic sauce off the stovetop and serve with rice. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds before digging in.

  • 2 medium sweet red peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Hot cooked rice

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk the first 4 ingredients until blended. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook and stir until no longer pink, 4-5 minutes. Remove from pan.
  2. In same pan, heat remaining 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat. Add red peppers; cook and stir until crisp-tender, 2-4 minutes. Add garlic; cook and stir 1 minute longer.
