Beans, Franks and Sausage

My husband, Tom, loves baked beans. I was trying to figure out a new way to make them with more substance and came up with this dish. Serve with a salad or fresh homemade bread. Submitted by Janet Burke, Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

Ingredients

2 16 oz. can country style baked beans
1 large onion chopped
8 strips bacon, browned and crumbled
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 16 oz. package beef franks
1 cup cooked ground pork sausage

Directions

Chop or mince onions as desired, pre-cook bacon, drain, cool and crumble, pre-cook pork sausage according to package directions drain and crumble, slice and cut franks to small bits.
Add all ingredients to 3 quart sauce pan and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 45 minutes.
