This recipe was a big hit in our family! I wasn't sure the simple ingredients called for in the sauce would deliver much of a punch but it had a great tang of flavor. Plus the thick layer of onions under the chicken were fabulous. Because I like a quick cleanup, I laid a sheet of foil under the food before baking. As a volunteer food editor for Taste of Home I enjoy recipes that use ingredients I have and are quickly assembled.

I thickened the sauce by adding 1-1/2 tsp cornstarch to the sauce mixture. It is so yummy! Tastes like summer, without the BBQ.

I used boneless chicken breasts and the sauce is very good...would like to try to thicken the sauce next time.

Did not have cider vinegar used red wine vinegar instead. Was very tasty. The only thing I would do different would be to dip the chicken in the sauce instead of pouring it over the dish.

Absolutely delicious, with or without the liquid smoke. It was a hit with the boys, and the leftover bones and skin from the chicken makes a useful base for my slow cooker chicken broth.

the taste was good. I'd like to make the sauce more thick though.
