- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 3 pounds chicken legs
- 1-1/2 to 2 teaspoons hickory smoked salt
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
- Place onions in greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish; arrange chicken in a single layer over onions. Sprinkle with salt. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over all, completely coating chicken. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1 hour or until juices run clear, basting several times. Yield: 4-6 servings.

"This recipe was a big hit in our family! I wasn't sure the simple ingredients called for in the sauce would deliver much of a punch but it had a great tang of flavor. Plus the thick layer of onions under the chicken were fabulous. Because I like a quick cleanup, I laid a sheet of foil under the food before baking.
