I have been making this recipe ... this EXACT recipe since 2012. I'm not sure how this leaked out (first tasted in Wilmington, N.C.), but now that the secret is out .... I suggest swapping the crushed Pineapple for sweetened pineapple juice. The juice helps cut the Molasses and helps the spicy BBQ sauce carry the heat just a bit longer.

Easy, quick and delicious. I have had a go to bean recipe for over 20 years. This recipe is on the same level- excellent!

Oh, these are really good! Perfect balance of sweet and spicy and we loved the addition of the pineapple and the french fried onions. Great side for any barbecue. Can't say enough about these baked beans except to say that they will definitely be a mainstay at our cookouts from now on!

Made this for my son’s birthday party and it went over very well. My husband and mother both loved them! The addition of pineapple is great! Thank you for the recipe.

Enjoyed by all. Not to sweet or spicy. Loved the addition of the pineapple. A nice hit of natural sweetness. Also the bacon adds a little smoky taste to the mix as well. VFE. I will be making this version again .

I would give this recipe 10 stars of I could! These baked beans are amazing!! I made a few small changes to fit my family's tastes...... instead of 1/2 cup of molasses, I used 1/4 cup molasses and 1/4 cup dark corn syrup (Karo); instead of using 6 ounces of French fried onions, divided ..... I used 4 ounces and mixed all into the beans; I used 8 slices of bacon, crumbled, reserving the equivalent of 2 slices for on top and I added 1 teaspoon of Liquid Smoke. I baked them in a 3 1/2 quart Pyrex casserole ....... sprinkled with the reserved bacon and covered with foil for 45 minutes. I made these beans for a family picnic and every single person raved about them ...... had 2nds and I have none left!! This is an excellent recipe .... my new "go to" recipe for baked beans..... much easier than my old standby that uses dried beans and takes all day!!!!! 5 BIG stars for sure!!
