A refreshing drink doesn’t have to contain alcohol, or come from a bar. This Sprite and strawberry drink features sweetened strawberries and pink lemonade concentrate mixed in with a lemon-lime soda for a wonderful strawberry spritzer. It’s full of flavor and the fizz makes it extra refreshing, especially on a hot day. And since there’s no alcohol in it, it’s suitable for all ages.

Ingredients for Sprite and Strawberry Drink

  • Strawberries: Strawberries are high in vitamin C, so this strawberry spritz has a little nutritional value, too. Use a bag of frozen, sweetened sliced strawberries and allow them to thaw ahead of time.
  • Lemon-lime soda: Chill the Sprite or lemon-lime soda of your choosing ahead of time.
  • Frozen pink lemonade concentrate: Allow the concentrate to thaw before mixing.

Place the strawberries in a blender; cover and process until pureed. Pour into a large pitcher; stir in the chilled soda and thawed lemonade concentrate. Serve immediately.

Recipe Variations

  • Use unsweetened frozen strawberries: Since the soda is already sweet and many pink-lemonade concentrates are as well, feel free to use frozen strawberry slices that have no added sugar.
  • Use frozen mixed berries: A mixed berry blend, thawed, changes the color and flavor of the spritzer a bit.
  • Keep the strawberries frozen: To make the drink even colder, don’t completely thaw the strawberries ahead of time. They’ll create a slushy mixture once blended, which changes the consistency of the spritzer slightly while making it extra refreshing.

How to Store Sprite and Strawberry Drink

While this strawberry spritzer is best consumed immediately, some of it could be saved for a little later. Pour it into a glass jug with a lid, or keep it in canning-jar mugs that have lids. Any vessel that has an airtight lid will work (including the original soda bottle); the goal is to keep things airtight so the spritzer doesn’t go flat and lose its carbonation. I use this technique at times with opened cans of club soda or probiotic soda, transferring them into bottles to keep the carbonation. Store the drink in the refrigerator.

How long does Sprite and strawberry drink last? 

This drink tends to lose its fizz over time, so it’s best to enjoy it as soon as possible. If stored in airtight bottles or jars with lids, it could keep most of its fizz for another day or two.

Could I make this with seltzer water?

Sure! To cut back on some of the sugar, swap the Sprite for seltzer water, plain sparkling water or club soda. They still have loads of fizzy carbonation, but no added sweeteners.

Would this taste good with added mint or basil?

Absolutely! Stir some fresh mint or basil into each glass, and use a small sprig of either as a garnish on top. For even more mint or basil flavor, shred or crush the leaves a bit to release their oils.

Could I use fresh strawberries or other fresh fruit?

Yes, fresh fruit would be delicious in this recipe; blend it as directed. Besides strawberries, other tasty options include raspberries, peaches, or even watermelon.
