Southern Honey-Pecan Pie

Ingredients

  • Dough for single-crust pie
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup honey
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup pecan halves

Directions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim crust to 1/2 in. beyond rim of plate; flute edge. Refrigerate while preparing filling.
  • 2. In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour and salt. Stir in honey, eggs, butter and vanilla. Stir in chopped pecans. Pour into crust. Arrange pecan halves around edge and center of pie.
  • 3. Cover edge loosely with foil. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil; bake until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, 20-25 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Store in the refrigerator.
