Semisweet Chocolate Chips Blondies

- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- In a small saucepan, melt shortening. Add sugar; cool. Place in a bowl; beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; add to batter (batter will be stiff). Turn into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. Cool.

Taste of Home Field Editor Review;Intentionally seeking out recipes that haven't been rated, this one fit the bill considering the ingredients I had on hand. I used a new shortening to me called, "Nutiva" brand. It's considered an organic superfood. And I folded the chips into the batter instead of sprinkling them on top.Dreamy! Smooth in texture. Superior flavor. Chips galore. This recipe fit the bill for making something easy from scratch that delivered in final product! I will make this again and again. I had people begging for more.
