Poached Corn Recipe

This simple and comforting side dish is sure to remind you of your mom’s cooking, too. The corn tastes fresh off the cob. —Donna Sasser Hinds, Milwaukie, Oregon
TOTAL TIME: Prep/Total Time: 20 min. YIELD:6 servings


  • 5 cups fresh or frozen corn
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper


  • 1. In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Cook over low heat for 10-12 minutes or until corn is tender, stirring frequently. Serve with a slotted spoon. Yield: 6 servings.
