Makes1 loaf (2 pounds, 20 slices)
- 1 cup warm water (70° to 80°)
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
- In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available.
- Check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed. Bake according to manufacturer's directions.

My husband made this delicious bread last night! It is so good! Very good flavor, like a nice wheat bread with a bit of sweetness that doesn't really hit you until you swallow. The crust was perfect and the bread was medium density - just right! He made the dough in the bread machine and finished it in the oven, so I'm sure it would work fine using conventional mixing. Definitely will be wanting more of this!

tried this recipe twice in my bread machine. Thought the 1st time was due to bad yeast. Tried again with new yeast, still turned out horrible.

Loved this. Made for a bake sale and was a real winner. I didn't bake it in bread machine however as I wanted to braid it just used that for the dough. I did this and then baked it in the oven turned out beautiful!

Very, very good! My husband and I both like molasses and loved this bread. I will definitely make it again & again.

I'm not a fan of molasses, so I substituted honey instead. This bread is our favorite. Moist, flavorful and a great texture. My husband absolutely loves it!
