Marshmallow fruit dip straddles the line between dessert and appetizer. The unique and contrasting flavors of marshmallow fluff and cream cheese give this recipe a surprisingly smooth and well-balanced profile, and its sweet, creamy, tangy flavor perfectly pairs with crisp fresh fruit. Serve it with sliced peaches or apples—in fact, any fruit that can be dipped will benefit from this delicious dip.

This dip will make a sweet snack at your next tailgate, outdoor party or concert in the park. Marshmallow fruit dip is so easy to make that your kids may even want to whip up a batch themselves when friends are over. Whatever the occasion, you can count on an empty bowl.

Ingredients for Marshmallow Fruit Dip

  • Cream cheese: Rich, buttery and tangy, cream cheese is a fresh cheese, meaning it’s not aged, which accounts for its soft texture.
  • Cherry yogurt: The addition of cherry yogurt imparts a cool, smooth texture while adding a hint of fruitiness.
  • Whipped topping: Incorporating whipped topping into this fruit dip with marshmallow fluff will create an additional level of airy fluffiness and a more velvety mouthfeel. You can replace the whipped topping with homemade whipped cream if you prefer using real cream.
  • Marshmallow creme: One jar of marshmallow creme or marshmallow fluff is the hero of this fruit dip. Marshmallow cream is fluffy, airy, sweet and sticky. It has the flavor and consistency of melted marshmallows but a creamier texture.
  • Assorted fresh fruit: Sliced for dipping, of course.

Directions

Step 1: Beat the cream cheese and yogurt

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and yogurt with an electric mixer until they’re well blended.

Step 2: Combine all the ingredients

Using a rubber spatula, fold in the thawed whipped topping and marshmallow creme. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and serve it with assorted sliced fruit for dipping.

Marshmallow Fruit Dip Variations

  • Add a citrus tang: Give this dip a citrusy zing by substituting the cherry yogurt for lemon. Or omit the yogurt entirely and add a tablespoon of lemon or grapefruit juice and some citrus zest.
  • Give it a fall feel: To bring some fall flavor to the game-day tailgate, sub out the plain cream cheese for a pumpkin spice or caramel apple flavored option. It will bring some delicious seasonality to the party.
  • Make it chocolaty: For an extra layer of flavor, stir in 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips.

How to Store Marshmallow Fruit Dip

Store any leftover fruit dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. When you’re ready to eat it again, remove it from the fridge and allow it to soften at room temperature for 20 minutes before serving. Due to the dairy content, we don’t recommend freezing marshmallow fluff fruit dip.

Marshmallow Fruit Dip Tips

Can marshmallow fruit dip be made dairy-free?

If you or one of your guests has a lactose sensitivity or is dairy-free, this marshmallow cream cheese fruit dip can be altered so they don’t have to abstain. You’ll need to make several ingredient substitutions, but you’ll have a fruit dip everyone can enjoy. To make it dairy-free, replace the cream cheese and yogurt with dairy-free versions, and eliminate the whipped topping or substitute it with whipped coconut cream.

Do I have to use fruit for dipping?

While fruit is the vehicle of choice for enjoying this fruit dip with marshmallow cream, feel free to experiment by adding some alternatives to the plate. Vanilla wafers, pretzels and graham crackers are all excellent options.

Do I need to add the yogurt and whipped topping?

You don’t. The combination of blended cream cheese and marshmallow cream can stand alone without adding the other ingredients. However, the yogurt and whipped topping will enhance the dip and make it creamier, smoother and fluffier.
