Macaroni and Cheese for Two

- 1-1/2 cups cooked elbow macaroni
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- In a medium bowl, combine macaroni, cheese, milk, egg and salt; mix well. Pour into a greased 1-qt. shallow baking dish; dot with butter. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

I usually make a roux and do not use an egg making MACARONI AND CHEESE. Although this was a creamy cheesy mix there was a graininess to the texture we did not like.

Does the egg make the macaroni and cheese thick? Also if I use the preshredded cheese do I use the whole 8 oz bag or do I use only half?

This was very good. I enjoyed it. My husband and kids are picky so they didn't try it. I thought the flavor was very rich and cheesy. I did think it was a little on the salty side. If I make this again I will cut the salt in half.

This was easy and delicious. Added diced onions to mix, more cheese than called for and bread crumbs on top - definitely making again! YUM!!

I love this recipe! Easy to make, quick for a night when I don't have anything else prepared. I like to add extra cheese and a breadcrumb topping made with more cheese and some parmesan mixed in. Delicious!

Skipped the egg and added some mild cheddar in with the sharp. Very good mac & cheese recipe!!

Very good, very rich! I only used 1/2 tablespoon of butter and it was more than enough.

This was a yummy dish and very easy to make! I have a five year old and she loves her macaroni. I loved that it was basic and you have the ability to really add anything to it to create something new or jazz it up if you are in the mood! Fantastic job!
