- 1 pound medium fresh mushrooms
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 envelope Italian salad dressing mix
- In a 3-qt. slow cooker, layer mushrooms and onion. Combine butter and salad dressing mix; pour over vegetables. Cover and cook on low until vegetables are tender, 4-5 hours. Serve with a slotted spoon.

Our family didn't care for this side dish. Although we aren't big fans of most mushroom recipes, this seemed like one we might like. I can see how mushroom lovers might feel differently than us though.

I used a dry package of garlic herb dressing mix. You can tailor this recipe so many was to compliment the rest of your meal.

I converted this to an Instant Pot recipe by using 1.5 lbs of mushrooms, added 1 cup of chicken broth, but otherwise the same. The dressing mix can easily be ranch, if you prefer, or some other mix (even Guacamole mix!). I set it to manual high for 2 minutes. By the time it came up to pressure and then cooked for 2 minutes, and then quick release, it was just right for my boyfriend, who loves anything with big mushrooms in it. A little soupier, perhaps, but the extra liquid was perfect for the steak and potatoes I was serving. In future, I'd use less of the packet because it was a tad salty. You can always add more once cooked, but you can't take it away!

Without the onion, this is one of my family's favorite appetizers! Have switched out Italian for Ranch depending on what's on hand and it's great either way. Double the mushrooms and leave the rest alone if the flavor is a little too strong/salty. Had never thought to use as a side dish but will now :)

Awesome. Easy. But only used 1/2 cook time crock pot. And turned off. And let set .Perfect on my blue cheese burgers!!! With sliced sliced Swiss cheese and avocado, tomato, spinach....My question... I make a ton of frozen foods for my elderly parents. Do you think this mushroom dish can be frozen in a freezer bag? So they can add to whatever?...

This was good, but not GREAT! I just added 1/4 cup of dry red wine to the mix and the GREAT happened! I served it with pot roast and got raves. I just eat it by itself. (Oh, yes, I also once added it to some bland mushroom soup. Souper!

Why serve it with a slotted spoon? Then you loose all the good juices that is good for potato gravy.

This is the best mushroom recipe. I only make mushrooms using this recipe. I do however do it on top of the stove in a large saute pan. I use half the butter and saut? Onion till soft. I add mushrooms ,stir and cover and cooking medium/low heat, stirring occasionally, but keep mushroom liquid as much as possible. When mushrooms are tender enough to eat, I add the seasoning mix and stir well, then add remaining butter. And melt . Remove from heat and serve Delicious! Can sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley as garnish. Yummy.
