Honey-Rum Grilled Bananas

These grilled bananas are the perfect dessert following a cookout. My family was skeptical at first, but everyone tried the recipe and they all agreed it was delicious. I use coconut rum from the Bahamas. —Lori Wendt, Mahomet, Illinois

  • 2 tablespoons rum
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 medium firm unpeeled bananas
  • Vanilla ice cream


  • In a small bowl, combine the rum, honey and cinnamon; set aside. Cut bananas in half lengthwise, leaving the peel on.
  • Place bananas cut side down on grill. Cover and grill over medium heat for 3 minutes. Turn and brush with honey mixture. Cover and grill 5-6 minutes longer or until tender. Peel bananas. Serve immediately with ice cream.

    Last night was likely the last grilling we'll do in 2018. I didn't grill alot, so decided to add these bananas after we finished our nice steak dinner. It took almost no time to prepare, and was really yummy! We'll definitely make them again!

    incredibly delicious desert. i used three jumbo bananas sliced longways and the cut in half. grilled the bananas until the had grill marks and added a bit of corn syrup to thicken the rum sauce and added a little nutmeg. i placed the bananas in the bottom of a desert bowl and a pint of vanilla ice cream with three uniform scoops to finish it off...i then drizzled the rum-stuff over it all. i could eat this until i was made sick. recommended.

    The whole family loved this, since I didn't have coconut rum I added a teaspoon of coco lopez along with a regular rum, this was just like bananas foster only way easier.. will make again and again

    It was terrible. the bananas were mushy and had no flavor. The sauce was sticky and also had no flavor. DO NOT MAKE THIS!

    We were a little unsure of this one at first, but it's a favorite now! The rum flavor was a little strong for us, so we skip it now. Very nice light, easy, and cheap dessert!
